Four Easy, Fast and Microwavable Dorm Recipes

Not everyone wants the college cafeteria food, because, let’s be honest, it’s not five stars. With the help of Buzzfeed, here are a few easy-to-make recipes you can make right in the comfort of your dorm.
Recipe One – Sausage and Tomato Sauce Pasta
What you will need:
- Microwavable bowl
- Pasta
- Pre-cooked chicken sausage
- Tomato sauce
- Shredded cheese
Preparation:
- Place the pasta in a large, microwavable bowl and cover with at least twice as much water.
- Place the bowl on a microwavable plate, in case the water overflows, and microwave for two minutes longer than instructed on your pasta box.
- Drain the pasta.
- Cut up the chicken sausage into small pieces and heat in the microwave for three minutes or until warm.
- Heat the tomato sauce in 30-second intervals until warm and pour over noodles and sausage.
- Add cheese on top.
Voila! You have an easy and delicious pasta dinner to make for you and even your friends.
Recipe Two – Macaroni and Cheese in a Cup
What you will need:
- Large mug
- Liquid measuring cup
- Dry measuring cup
- Elbow noodles
- Pre-shredded cheese
- Milk
- Water
Preparation:
- Put 1/3 cup of elbow noodles into your mug and add a 1/2 cup of water.
- Microwave in two-minute intervals and stir. Microwave until water has evaporated (usually four minutes).
- Add milk and cheese to your desire and microwave until melted and stir well.
In just under two minutes, you have the tasty macaroni and cheese mom makes at home!
Recipe Three – Gluten-Free Enchiladas
What you will need:
- Paper towels
- Liquid measuring cup
- Microwavable plate
- One can of gluten-free enchilada sauce
- One pack of gluten-free corn tortillas
- Two cups pre-cooked shredded or cubed chicken
- One cup of cheese of your choice
- Optional: beans, corn, salsa, etc.
Preparation:
- Wrap gluten-free tortillas in a paper towel and microwave for 30 seconds.
- Heat up chicken in 30-second intervals.
- Spread 1/2 cup of enchilada sauce across the bottom of the plate.
- Mix chicken and other desired fillings with one cup of enchilada sauce.
- Fill the tortillas with filling and roll, and place on top of enchilada sauce.
- Spread remaining enchilada sauce over each tortilla and sprinkle cheese on top.
- Microwave in one-minute intervals to make sure enchiladas are heated through.
Who needs an expensive Mexican restaurant when you can make a tasty enchilada yourself?
Recipe Four – Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Cup
Last but not least, a delectable dessert.
What you will need:
- Mug
- Measuring spoons
- Butter
- Granulated white sugar
- Dark brown sugar
- Vanilla extract
- Kosher salt
- One egg yolk
- All-purpose flour
- Chocolate chips
Preparation:
- Melt one tablespoon of butter in the microwave.
- Add one tablespoon of sugar.
- Add one tablespoon of brown sugar.
- Add three drops of vanilla extract.
- Stir to combine.
- Add egg yolk and stir again.
- Add less than 1/4 cup of flour and stir again.
- Add chocolate chips and give a final stir.
- Cook in the microwave for 40-60 seconds and start checking for doneness at 40 seconds.
- Do not cook past one minute.
Pour a glass of milk and you have the perfect after-dinner dessert or even a midnight snack.
