Update 2.0

This is a big one. We’ve completely rebuilt The Rampage from the ground up in WordPress and are excited to announce our transition to the new platform, which will allow us to add many new features and allow for more student interactivity than ever before in The Rampage‘s history.

Students can now create an account on the Rampage website, which allows for commenting, artwork submission, and submitting opinion pieces. The new Rampage has an updated design as well that allows for more and more beautiful information.

What’s New?

• New Features
  • User Accounts
    • Finally, visitors and authors alike can create user accounts on The Rampage. Creating an account allows for submitting certain kinds of content (detailed below) and—eventually—leaving comments.
  • Student Artwork Gallery
    • Explore student artwork created either in class or outside of class.
    • Submit* your own artwork to have it featured on The Rampage. New submissions will be featured above-the-fold on the home page of the website and in the upcoming Rampage magazine. *User account required to submit artwork
  • Student Spotlight
    • Read about the accomplishments of distinguished Bluefield College students. New spotlights will be published most Wednesdays.
  • Faculty/Staff Features
    • Get to know the faculty, staff, and other employees of Bluefield College that work to support your success. New features will be published most Fridays.
  • The Opinion Pages
    • Have comments, concerns, or praise on happenings at Bluefield College? Let us know! Submit* your opinions for review, and they might be featured on The Rampage! We may even cover it in an article if we find it particularly interesting. *User account required to submit opinions
  • Student Author Pages
    • Like a certain author or artist’s work? Read all about authors and see all of their work in one place with our new author pages. Just click a name on any article or artwork or find a certain author on our author directory.
  • Pinned Articles
    • Never miss an important article. The two most recent pinned articles, such as important update notes, event coverages, or announcements, will appear at the top of the home page.
  • Weather
    • Check the sidebar on the front page to get the local weather straight from the Bluefield College campus. There’s no need to give your location, so your privacy is protected! The current and weekly weather is provided by Dark Sky.

  • Design and Layout
    • The layout of The Rampage has been updated site-wide, from the home page to articles to category pages.
    • New fonts and brand guidelines are being used site-wide. Playfair Display is being used for headers and titles while Poppins is being used for paragraphs and other text.
  • Our New Logo
    • The Rampage finally has a logo!
  • Dropped Internet Explorer Support
    • All versions of Internet Explorer are no longer supported by The Rampage. It is time for us to shed the weight of this dinosaur and move on to newer technology for both ease-of-use and security reasons.
    • For best support, please use modern versions of Microsoft Edge (Windows 10’s default browser), Safari (macOS’s default browser), Chrome, Firefox, Vivaldi, or Opera. If you are on mobile, any browser on iOS 11+ is supported, and default browsers from Android 6+ are supported.
  • Illustrations
    • View the monthly illustrations by yours truly on our new Illustrations page.
