Halloween at BC

Graphic Communication • 2022

It’s that time of the year again — the spookiest time of the year. It’s Halloween, where kids of all ages dress up in costumes, go trick-or-treating, decorate their rooms and houses, watch scary movies, and hang out with friends.

And despite the ongoing pandemic with all its social distancing and other constraints, the Bluefield College community still seems very interested in celebrating the Halloween season. Traditional events of the past, like the costume party in the Student Activities Center (SAC) and the haunted house in Lansdell Hall, are no longer on the list of student activities because of COVID restrictions, but that doesn’t mean all the festivities have been canceled, according to Anne Pelchar, BC’s director of student engagement.

“Since the last (COVID) outbreak, they are going to cut down on the face-to-face activities,” Pelchar said, “but they are still going to continue on the activities like virtual Bingo and raffles, and maybe streaming a Halloween movie.”

Among the events scheduled to celebrate Halloween at BC:

  • Scary Movie Night, Thursday, October 29 at 7 p.m.
  • Halloween Scavenger Hunt, all day, Friday, October 30
  • Virtual Halloween Games, Saturday, October 31, 7 p.m.
