Question of the Week: Student Activities?

Communication • 2021

The full college experience involves not just the classroom and studies, but sports, residence life, and student activities. With that in mind, we thought we’d ask students: “What student activities would you like to see on campus?”

  • Tanya Pinette, Communication

“I would like to see more student activities both on and off campus. I enjoyed the Downtown City Party last semester with the limos and food from The Railyard, because it was a unique event that BC had never done before. So having a similar party again would be awesome. I would also like to see more concert events in the future, because I loved seeing Sons of Serendip perform. Some other student activities that I would like to see are comedy shows, because I love a good laugh, and off-campus trips, since there isn’t always a lot to do in Bluefield.”

  • Laurel Romano, Biology

“Some student activities I believe would be fun to see on campus are coloring and coffee, a night where students can come and decompress, and bringing in animals from the local shelter for students to visit with. This would be nice for students to relax and give the animals an opportunity to be adopted.”

  • Sarah LaPrade, Communication and Graphic Communication

“I would love to see more Christian music artists or any other artists perform. I also would like to see hands-on activities in chapel before chapel starts. It gets repetitive just sitting and waiting.”

  • Andre Gabriel Souza Avila Amaral, Psychology

“I think I like the activities we already have. I think I might be the wrong student to answer this question because I’m fairly satisfied with the school in general.”

  • Tianna Crockett, Human Services

“I would like for us to have more days like Mud Pig Day and have more fun things in the SAC. I feel like Student Activities should also have events where it’s just for college students — no faculty and staff, no children, just college students.”
