Question of the Week: Dorm Maintainance

Communication • 2020

Since residence life is an important part of the college experience, we thought we’d ask Bluefield College students about BC residence halls, specifically “are BC residence halls well maintained?”

Jordan Gonzalez

“I’ve never been inside any of the on-campus housing, except Bluestone Commons, and it was very well maintained.”

Lexi Harmon

“Heck no! My dorm room is literally gross, and they didn’t clean the floors or anything. My fridge literally has mold in it.”

Paige Fisher

“I do not believe that the residence halls are treated equally. I believe they all need work and some more than others. For the money that we pay to go to Bluefield, the on-campus living should be better.”

Lauren Bailey

“I think that they are well maintained. I think that (we) as residents can help to keep those residence hallways clean. So as a former resident in one of the dorms, they were maintained very well, and we kept things clean all the time all day long. It was kept up by our maintenance staff.”

Taylyn Strange

“I think that they’re well maintained, besides the black mold that they try and cover with paint. It could be toxic and very harmful to students here at Bluefield.”

Laken Sparks

“I think it’s well maintained, besides the stairs aren’t maintained well at all. There are spiders and webs everywhere in the stairs, and it’s dirty.”
