Local businesses are supporting Bluefield University students this year by giving discounts. In return, students are giving back by supporting local businesses, which helps strengthen community rapport.

The Bluefield University women’s basketball team is about to start its 2025-2026 season, and the Lady Rams hope to make some noise, thanks to the return of a solid group of veteran seniors.
With the 2025–2026 basketball season just underway, optimism and excitement are building around the Bluefield University men’s basketball program. Guided by first-year head coach Joseph Cooper, the team has used the off-season to prepare for a strong season in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC).
“I first heard Blake play when I was working at a band camp at Graham High School. He was playing trombone, and it was good. Then we took a break, and I heard some piano playing, and I thought, Who is that?” said Dr. Necessary, Bluefield University Band Director.
The university is officially changing the academic calendar starting in the 2026-2027 term, with changes as early as this spring.
