Question of the Week: What’s Your Worst Work Experience?

Part-time jobs are often a difficult experience. In addition, they’re often in food services and involve dealing with difficult customers. We thought we’d ask BU students about their food services work experiences, specifically their worst work experience. Here’s what they had to say.

I worked a hot dog stand, which was the worst experience ever. We had people complaining about the hot dogs because they were too cold, or we were too slow. We had to remake them, and the heater went out, too, by the end of the day.

Dayson McMillian, Exercise and Sports Science
My worst experience was working at a Subway. I had accidentally burnt the sub and had that smell in the store for hours. It was so unbearable.

Chase Speller, Business
When I lived back in Michigan, I worked at a McDonalds. We had fun to make the days go by faster, but then we had a lady complain about the food. She claimed that someone spit in her food. We had to report to HR for this, and the cameras showed that she had lied, but I almost lost my job because of this lady. That was my worst experience.

Will Austin, Business Administration
When I worked at Subway, I made an order, and there was oil on the sub. When I went to pick up the oil, it spilled all over me, the food, and the floor. We had to replace all the food, and I had to finish my shift with oil all over me.

Aurora Haywood, Biology
When I worked as a hostess, I was sitting someone and pulled a chair to move it out of the way. The person I was sitting with thought I was pulling the chair out for them to sit. It was so embarrassing.
