Easley Library: Its Staff and Services

Sports Communications • 2028

Bluefield University’s Easley Library offers academic support and a quiet space for learning, research, and discovery. With a commitment to service, the library’s staff works hard to meet the needs of the BU community.

Easley Library is managed by a skilled team of support staff members who ensure that the library is functioning smoothly. Leading the team is co-director of Library Services Werner Lind, who helps with planning, collection development, and community outreach. He also helps students with finding articles and books, personal guidance, securing quiet space, and inter-library loan services.

For students doing research, Lind is available to help them find scholarly articles, books, and other credible sources. Students can also get personalized guidance on assignments, projects, or papers. In addition, the library offers workshops to develop information literacy skills essential for navigating academic databases.

When it comes to digital resources and databases, Easley Library provides access to many digital resources, including academic journals, e-books, and catalogs. Through platforms such as Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL) and Journal storage (JSTOR), students can access a wide selection of peer-reviewed materials. Lind is always ready to guide new users through these resources, ensuring students can find the content they need.

“I use the digital platforms to help get feedback from the database when submitting a paper” said Blaklea Neal. “Getting the feedback helps my paper and my grade increase in accuracy and quality.”

The library also offers quiet space for both individuals studying and groups doing group work. These areas are equipped with computers (iPads) and printing services, allowing students to focus on their studies without distractions. Study rooms can be for group discussions, individual study sessions, enhancing teamwork and productivity.

“I love to go in there and study while having my friends there with me,” senior Kenzie Franklin said. “They help me study, and I even help them, and we have no distraction because it is so quiet.”

If the library does not have a book or journal, then students can take advantage of the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service. This allows students to borrow materials from other libraries across the country, making sure they have access to the resources they need for their studies.

Overall, Easley Library is always the best place to go to study, find books, and do research while having fun. The library has a valuable selection of resources, friendly staff, and a quiet environment for focusing on your work.
