Preview of Ram Band 2023

2023 marks the fourth year for the Bluefield University Ram Band. This season’s halftime show features hit songs from The Beach Boys, including: “I Get Around,” “Fun Fun Fun,” “Kokomo,” “Wipeout,” and “Good Vibrations.”

The season’s show comes from a special request of founding band member Garret Leland. Leland has wanted to do a Beach Boys show since he joined the Ram Band in 2019. After four years of asking, Dr. Andrew Necessary, the band director, finally agreed and let Leland pick the songs for the 2023 season.

On September 2, the Ram Band held its first BU Band Day. At this inaugural event, the Ram Band hosted marching bands from Bland County High School, Graham High School, and Bluefield High School, totaling 92 band members on the field at halftime.
