Spring Scenes at BU

Communication • 2024

April tends to be a busy time of year at Bluefield University with lots of activity both in and out of the classroom. We thought we’d capture some of the extracurricular activity. Below is a sampling of 2023 Spring Scenes at BU.

BU Dedicates Little Free Library in Memory of Caitlyn Gable

The BU family dedicated a Little Free Library on campus April 28 in memory of former BU student Caitlyn Gable who passed away in August 2022. Gable was a rising junior biology major and a member of the Lady Rams softball team. According to Emily Cook, BU’s director of counseling services, Gable was a huge fan of reading, especially Harry Potter and Percy Jackson books. She worked in Easley Lbrary, which Cook said was one of her favorite places to be on campus.

“We want Caitlyn’s light and love for reading to shine on our campus,” Cook said about the dedication of the on-campus Little Free Library. BU student Mark Clary (pictured) painted the library with scenes from Gable’s favorite books.
