Counseling Resources Available to BU Students
While being a student at Bluefield University can be exciting, it can also be very draining on someone’s mental health. In light of that fact, there are different counseling resources available to students when needed or desired.
In fact, the BU Center for Counseling Services has individual, group, crisis, substance counseling, and many more options that students are encouraged to take advantage of.
“I want students to know that we are here to support them,” said Emily Cook, the director of BU’s Center for Counseling Services, about the various options of counseling services available to BU students. “If you have ever considered counseling, now is a great time to utilize that source.”
However, if you don’t think counseling is for you, you can always go to BU wellness events to be involved.
“We want our students to be thinking about wellness and how to become their healthiest selves.” Cook said about the BU wellness events.
Students who use the services say they’re grateful they have someone to talk to about the challenges they face.
“I am very thankful for the counseling resources available on campus,” said one BU student who wished to remain anonymous. “As someone who struggles with anxiety and depression, it is nice to have someone to talk to. They also have accommodated my needs with allowing an ESA; for that I will always be thankful.”
Others say they find comfort in the counseling of more than just Cook.
“I think the counseling department is great,” said another BU student. “I enjoy being able to have someone to talk to and getting to see Hazel (the therapy dog) when my animals are back home.”
All BU counseling resources are free to BU students. To find out more, contact Cook by email at ecook@bluefield.edu or by phone at 276-326-4252.
