Where Students Should Go to Find Jobs

Graphic Communication • 2024

Many students often try to find jobs while they are in college or before they graduate; however, a lot of those students find it is sometimes difficult to find job opportunities. They don’t know where to look or what is available to students or new graduates. They’re not sure what qualifications they will need, what they will be doing in the job, or even how to apply for the job in question. It can be overwhelming, but fortunately it might not be as difficult as they think.

Actually, many job opportunities exist on and off campus for students. In addition, scholarship websites, such as Fast Web, function as a job finding website. These websites are great tools for students not only because they help with scholarships, filling out the FASFA, and finding loans, but also because they help students find part-time or even full-time jobs.

Job finding websites are also available to help students find local job positions. One website is WayUp, where students can apply for internships or jobs. Another example is CVS Health, where students can get positions, such as CVS Health Retail Management or Information Technology Leadership Development Program.

According to Bluefield University’s Chelsie Smith , assistant director of financial aid, opportunities for work are also available for students on the Bluefield University campus through work-study positions.

“There are several different types of jobs available depending on what department you are looking to work in,” Smith said. “Most are office-style positions, but some offer the ability to work with the community.”

Smith said the hours for work-study positions tend to be better for students, because they are more flexible and BU employers will work with students and their class schedules. Other benefits to work study include the fact that students can gain experience working within their major and the convenience of working on campus.

“Bluefield University prides itself on providing opportunities for students to learn in a challenging environment that will help them prepare for their future,” says the BU online Job Board. Students interested in on-campus work-study should visit the Job Board for more information about work opportunities.

Below are some links to websites for more information on where students can find jobs or to see what is available on the Bluefield University campus.
