BU Christmas Memories and Traditions
Since Bluefield University is a Christian institution, a holiday like Christmas is very important, and the memories and traditions made during Christmas often last forever. That’s no different for BU students who shared their Christmas memories and traditions with us.
For example, Bluefield student Logan Patron said that during the Christmas season that he, his dad and brothers build a model train and train track to get into the Christmas spirit. Brothers and BU students Mykkel and Marek Banks said their Christmas tradition is all about family time.
“We go to our family cabin or go to the Opryland Hotel with the whole family,” they said.
Daniel Danso said some of his fondest memories of Christmas are from the times his whole family would get together to watch Christmas movies and open presents
“We enjoyed each other’s company,” Danso said.
Lamont Finley said that during Christmas all his family comes to his hometown in Hampton, Virginia, where they meet at a hotel for a family get-together and exchange gifts and spend time with each other. Jesse Ragin said his most memorable family Christmas tradition is all about gingerbread houses.
“Me and my family make gingerbread houses,” Ragin said, “and put a weird theme on them when making the gingerbread Will Ferrell.”
BU student Savion Parham said his Christmas tradition has a little international flair.
“Because my grandma is German, we all go to her house on Christmas Eve and open presents over there,” Parham said, “and we call it German Christmas. We have a big meal and everything.”
Xavior Riggs said, “We really just eat Christmas food and talk with one another and watch Christmas-themed movies as a family.” Bella Cox said that right before they open gifts her dad makes breakfast and they have a drink-off together. Ayanna Strother added that her favorite Christmas memories involve spaghetti.
“We have spaghetti every year on Christmas,” Strother said, “and we just lay around in our PJs and watch Christmas movies.”
These were just some of Bluefield University’s student Christmas memories and traditions. We’re confident there are more, and we hope even more will be made this Christmas season.
