How to Use Key Features of the Apple iPad
The Apple iPad is one of the hottest technology devices on the market. The touchscreen tablet is used for both work and play, and will soon be the device used for Bluefield College textbooks and other instructional uses. With that in mind, we thought we’d share a few key features of the iPad and how to use these features on the device.
Scanning
This feature is a fast way to transfer a photo of a document to your notes or even to send to someone else who needs the document. To do this, follow these simple steps:
- Go to your Notes app on the device.
- Click on the three dots at the top of the Notes app or the plus sign at the top of the keyboard.
- Select Scan document.
- Find the document you want to scan and place it in view of the iPad camera.
- Hold the iPad still until it takes a picture of the document or click on the shutter button. You can scan more than one document if needed.
Split Screen
Do you like to multitask and have two windows up simultaneously? Are you tired of switching tabs every time you need to access different information? If so, the Split Screen feature of the iPad will be helpful to you. To access the split-screen on your iPad with the screen you are already on, all you have to do is:
- In the app dock, make sure you have the app you want to create a split-screen with.
- Pull up the app dock from the bottom of the iPad.
- Select the app you want and drag it to the outside edge. You can also change the size of the split screens.
Keyboard Flicking
Are you tired of clicking the symbols button when you want a number or symbol? If you answered yes, then the Keyboard Flicking feature on the iPad is for you. All you have to do to access the number or symbol on the keyboard is click and swipe down on the letter that you are choosing for the symbol or number.
Instant Markup
The Instant Markup feature helps when you want to add a signature, text, object, or even magnify certain things you can’t see. To access this feature, follow these simple steps:
- Take a screenshot (hold power and home button).
- Tap on the screenshot you took (this is where you can start marking on the screenshot).
- Click the plus button to add a signature or any other mark you want to put on the screenshot.
- After adding what you want to the screenshot, you can share it with someone, save it to files, or save it to your photos.
Drag and Drop
Do you have a photo in the wrong place, and you want to put it somewhere else? Do you want to transfer text from the internet without retyping or placing a photo in a document? If so, the Drag and Drop feature will help solve your problem. The steps for this process are:
- Tap and hold the photo in the Photos app or highlight the text you want to transfer. You can even select more than one photo.
- Pull up the app Dock while still holding the photo or text.
- Drag it over the app you want it to be opened in and drop it in the app.
If the app you want to choose isn’t in the app Dock, swipe up to access the Home screen and then drag the photo or text over to the app you want it to be in.
