The end of the 2018-2019 academic year is here. No more agonizing classes (just kidding) or dreadful final exams. It’s finally sweet summer time.

After the end of notes, books, tests and quizzes, what could possibly be next to do? Well, don’t worry, because this article provides you with a review of 2019 summer movies that you don’t want to miss. 

AVENGERS: ENDGAME
Release Date: April 26

Adrift in space with oxygen supplies dwindling, Tony Stark sends a message to Pepper Potts. Meanwhile, the remaining Avengers – Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, and Bruce Banner – must figure out a way to bring back their vanquished allies for an epic showdown with Thanos. DETECTIVE PIKACHU
Release Date: May 9

In the Pokémon universe, ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in Tim’s investigation is Harry’s previous partner, Detective Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds), a wise-cracking and objectively adorable super-sleuth. As the pair run across the streets of Ryme City, they encounter characters that could destroy the peaceful co-existence. Are you ready to see the Pokémon of your childhood on the big screen?

A lonely woman, Sue Ann (Octavia Spencer), befriends a group of teenagers and lets them party at her house. Upon inviting them in, Sue Ann has a few house rules that the teenagers must follow. However, as the kids think that they’ve lucked out, things start happening that make them question the intention of their host. What will come of these teenagers who decided to trust this stranger?

ROCKETMAN
Release Date: May 31

After last year’s movie success for the famous British band Queen, a new film about British pop icon Elton John, who is played by Taron Egerton, rises to the stage. Egerton, by the way, carries his own weight in this role by singing for himself.  If you’re still standing and enjoy listening to Elton, you’ll be sure to enjoy this fantastical musical breakthrough of Egerton’s career. 

MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL
Release Date: June 14

Although Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones won’t be joining this film, the Men in Black continue to protect the Earth from the scum of the universe. In this new adventure, they tackle their biggest, global threat: a mole in the Men in Black organization. Will Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson be able to fill the shoes of Smith and Jones in these roles?

TOY STORY 4
Release Date: June 21

If you have recovered from the ending of Toy Story 3, this summer is bringing the fourth and final installment of Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang. When a new toy called “Forky” joins the gang, a road trip alongside old and new friends reveals how big the world can be for a toy. As a heads up: Tom Hanks even teared up while wrapping up this film. 

ANABELLE COMES HOME
Release Date: June 28

Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, demonologist Ed and Lorraine Warren bring the possessed doll home to be locked in the artifacts room. While in “safely” behind sacred glass, Annabelle enlists a priest’s holy blessing. But horror awaits them as Annabelle awakens and finds a new target: the Warrens’ 10-year-old daughter, Judy, and her friends. If you’ve seen the past few installments of the Conjuringand Annabelle,you should be ready for this newest thriller. 

THE LION KING
Release Date: July 19

After the death of his father, a young lion prince flees his kingdom only to learn the true meaning of his responsibility and bravery. Or, if you’re a 90s-00s baby, here is where we will witness the heart-breaking death, once again, of Mufasa in hyper-realistic CGI. (Don’t forget to bring the tissues and a friend to cry on).
