Question of the Week: Summer Plans

Graphic Communication • 2019

As the 2018-2019 academic year comes to a close, Bluefield College students are preparing for summer break. We asked students: “What are your plans for the summer?” Below are their responses.

Kylee Krug, Junior Business Major, Women’s Volleyball

“I will be traveling back home to Oregon once school is finished. I would like to be making some money working at a coffee shop. I love to hike so I am hoping to go on more hikes. I want to go on a vacation to Rockaway Beach, Oregon. It is a nice spot to chill and enjoy the beach. I want to go swimming and boating on Lake Billy Chinook and sleep — maybe catch up on all my TV shows. I want to go to the Saturday Market in downtown Portland, Oregon, because it is like a farmer’s market, and you can shop around in the little booths and just enjoy the day.”

Joe Stacey, Senior Business Major, Men’s Soccer

“I will be traveling down to Chattanooga, Tennessee. I will playing soccer for Dalton Red Wolves; they are a USL 2 team, but I will also be practicing with their professional team. I plan on heading down May 12 to get started on trainings and getting a place with some of the players. I will be rooming with five of my teammates. We will be traveling to Charlotte, North Carolina, parts of south Georgia, and South Carolina. The plan is to look for jobs that will give the time to play, as well. I am looking to do some soccer camps in the area to help the younger kids with their love for the game. At the end of season, I plan on returning to England and start working and signing with a new soccer team there near my hometown.”

Destinee Coleman, Sophomore Elementary and Special Education Major, Cheer

“I will be traveling to Montana. It’s a family vacation that my parents thought would be a fun trip. There will be no cell service, so I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I will always be going to Six Flags Theme Part and headed down to Georgia to see performing artist Tray Songs and Chris Brown perform. I’m not really sure what else. I am going to have to get a job — not really sure where, but I need one. Most of all, I’m going to enjoy my time off from school and lay out by my pool and just have a good time.”

Mary Blake Avery, Senior Exercise and Sports Science Major, Softball

“My plans for the summer are to head home after graduation and then find a job at a gym or something to help save money, because I am going to grad school. I will also be taking some classes for grad school so then I will be able to get in and start right away. I hope to find an internship possibly in occupational therapy. Maybe travel a little bit. Not really sure.”

Danae Cox, Senior Graphic Communication Major, Women’s Basketball

“Well, I will be graduating this semester, so after that I will be moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, to jump-start my business and recover from surgery. I’m hoping to travel the world after saving some money. I’m thinking maybe the Bahamas or something in the tropics or maybe in Europe. I’m not really sure. I want to get working on my business and then see what happens after that. Im excited and ready.”
