Bluefield College Ranked Among the Top Colleges in the South
Bluefield College has been ranked among the Top Tier Colleges in the South in U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges: 2019.”
About 400 colleges in four regions of the United States are assessed in U.S. News’ yearly investigation, including more than 100 schools in the South, where Bluefield ranked 43rd.
Schools that make the Top Tier list most often score well in graduation rates, financial aid packages, limited debt of graduates, alumni giving, class sizes, peer appraisals, and workforce assets.
“Regional colleges focus on undergraduate education, but grant fewer than 50 percent of their degrees in liberal arts disciplines,” noted the U.S. Newsarticle. “This category also includes schools that have small bachelor’s degree programs.”
As part of its evaluation, U.S. Newsgroups measurements into six indicators: outcomes, faculty resources, expert opinion, financial resources, student excellence, and alumni giving.
“To calculate the overall rank for each school within each category, up to 16 metrics of academic excellence are assigned weights that reflect U.S. News’ researched judgment about how much they matter,” said Robert Morse, the chief data strategists at U.S. News.
