Homecoming and Family Weekend: November 2-4

Graphic Communication • 2020

Bluefield College Homecoming and Family Weekend will be November 2-4. This event will feature many activities for former students, current students, families, and the community.

The activities will begin with a Ram-2-Ram Alumni Career Seminar, Friday, November 2 at 10 a.m. in the Student Activities Center (SAC), featuring Bluefield College graduates returning to campus to share career advice with current BC students.

“Students will have the opportunity to listen, ask questions, and make valuable connections with former students,” said Josh Grubb, BC’s director of development and alumni relations.

Following the Alumni Career Seminar, all BC alumni, students, families, and friends are invited to a luncheon at noon in Shott Hall. After the luncheon, BC’s School of Education will present its annual Dr. Donna Watson Goodness and Light Alumni Award at 4 p.m. in Easley Library.

Members of the class of 1968 and beyond are invited to a Golden Graduate Society induction ceremony at 4:30 p.m. in Harman Chapel, followed by BC Dinner Theatre at 6:30 p.m., featuring the presentation of Nunsene.

“Nunsense is lots of fun,” said theatre professor Charles Reese. “There is loads of chemistry in this cast. The sense of ensemble and play is palpable. This cast is the definition of synergy. Audiences are going to fall in love with The Little Sisters of Hoboken.”

Day one will conclude with the Homecoming Dance at 9 p.m. in Shott Hall, including music, dancing, and the recognition of the 2018 Homecoming Court.

Day two, Saturday, November 3, will begin at 8 a.m. with a BC Community Breakfast in Shott Hall for all members of the BC family, followed by campus tours at 9 a.m. and the annual Alumni Association meeting at 10:30 a.m. in Shott Hall. Distinguished BC graduates will be recognized during an Alumni Awards Luncheon at noon in Shott Hall.

The Homecoming football game will begin at 6 p.m. at Mitchell Stadium. The Homecoming Court will be recognized during halftime of the game. Before the game, Ram fans are invited to participate in tailgating.

“The Sixth Annual Tailgating Challenge will be held and alumni, students, faculty, staff, families and friends are invited to participate in this super fun event,” said Grubb. “Participants can set-up their tailgate on Saturday afternoon. Judges will come to check out the tailgate atmosphere and creativity of the name and menu. The top three tailgates will be announced at halftime, and the winner will receive the 2018 championship banner.”

After the football game, Highlands Fellowship will host a bonfire at 9 p.m. in the Dome field, featuring s’mores, door prizes, and music. Homecoming and Family Weekend will conclude on Sunday, November 4, with a worship session with Highlands Fellowship in Harman Chapel at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., followed by a special Sunday lunch in Shott Hall following worship.
